High-impact individual counseling for leaders and pivotal job-holders

At the heart of the individual counseling programs Stefan offers are the business performance and individual development targets the client has. On the journey to reach or exceed these targets Stefan trains the clients and gives them the necessary skills to grow as persons and professionals at the same time as they work toward their targets.

A typical counseling program runs for a year and is based on face-to-face sessions every 2nd to 4th week, where joint problem-solving and review of the clients' actual progress toward the targets are at the top of the agenda.

In between the face-to-face sessions clients are free to consult Stefan on whatever matters or issues important for the agreed upon performance and development targets.

Critical success factors

There are three critical success factors for a counseling program to be successful:
  • Performance targets clearly linked to commercial success
  • Genuine willingness to perform and grow from the client
  • Adherence to discipline and a “no excuses” attitude from the client

Less important factors

These factors are less important for success if the critical ones are in place:
  • “Intrinsic talent” of client
  • Education and experience of client
  • Type of role or domain (level, industry, function) the client has
  • Previous performance track-record of the client
  • Culture in which client performs
  • Geographical location client is based at

Skills development of clients

Based on experience some of the common skills client leaders acquire during the counseling are:
  • Fact-based way of working, e.g. assess true performance and development needs of self and staff, structure problems, analyze key issues behind a problem, design alternative solutions to a problem, and develop smart plans and approaches to solving problems
  • Effective goal-setting and prioritization
  • Manage change and improvement work
  • Develop and maintain productive behavioral rules in the work context
  • Manage own and staff's habits, behaviors and mindsets and the skills related to Accelerated development
  • Influence skills and ability to syndicate ideas and recommendations in all type of contexts
  • Run effective meetings
  • Define tasks and outline work flows
